Summer Specialty Classes

Crossover Clay Classes

Tea for two

Learn how to make your own ceramic teapot, tea cups and wooden serving tray! In this 8 week class we will pair 4 weeks of hand building in the ceramics studio with 4 weeks of woodworking in the wood studio to help you make a matching tea service. All are welcome, no previous clay or woodworking experience necessary.

Ages: 16+

Mondays 9:00am-12:00pm
Dates:
Aug. 25 - Oct. 13
Instructor: Codey Davis and Dennis Mulherim
Location: Main (3750 Canfield St)
Cost: $325 (Pro-rated 7 wk class)

PRinting on Clay

Let’s remix this business! Our Clay and Print studios are teaming up to bring you a brand new 8-week intermediate level crossover class.

For the first four weeks, you’ll be in our Clay studio, hand-building any sort of functional ware or sculptural pieces your heart desires. The last four weeks, you’ll move into our Print studio to learn various printmaking techniques like linocut, screen printing, and lithography to decorate your hand-built forms. These techniques will allow you to create multiples of the same image, opening up possibilities for making matching sets of mugs, dishes, or other creations.

This class will offer some instruction for hand-building, but not much. As such, we recommend that only folks with previous hand-building experience sign up. Print newbies are encouraged!

Ages: 16+

Tuesdays 9:00 - 11:30am
Dates:
Aug. 26 - Oct. 14
Instructor: Akane Kleinkopf and Grace Flaherty
Location:
Main (3750 Canfield St)
Cost:
$325

Garden Totems

“Totem” stems from the Algonquian meaning “kinship group”. Kinship between the earth (materials - clay and metal) and with one another. In this unique class you will be designing and creating your own totem. These stacked forms will consist of clay and metal forms that you’ll create over the course of this eight-week class. We recommend and encourage you to also bring in found wire such as copper, brass or steel if you would like to incorporate this kinetic movement into your totem.

Ages: 16+

Thursday 6:00-8:30pm
Dates:
Aug. 28 - Oct. 16
Instructor: Molly Hoverstock and Stuart Shirley
Location: Main (3750 Canfield St)
Cost: $350
